My name is Kelcy Timmons and I'm a designer, painter, illustrator and muralist. I recently just graduated from the John H Daniel's Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts Degree as a Visual Studies Specialist.
I have always had a passion for art and design. From a young age, I developed a strong interest in fashion illustration which followed me into my teenage years. Through my early teens I discovered icons such as Andy Warhol and Keith Haring which evolved my passion for fashion design into a love for graphic and pop art.
In university I specialized in visual studies, giving me many opportunities to explore a variety of mediums and subjects, allowing me to discover my signature graphic painting style and explore unique subject matter regarding my personal experience as a woman, as LGBTQ+ and as a mixed race immigrant.

about
History and Education
My formal design education began in the summer of 2011 in New York City. I attended Parsons the New School of Design and studied Fashion Sketching under Kien Chu. Over a span of 2 weeks, I learned the basics of illustrating the body with and without garments, as well as how to design and present a unique fashion line.

A few years later, I participated in a vigorous summer intensive Fashion Processing course at Parsons the New School of Design in Paris. During my 3 weeks in France I attended 2 seperate classes; a Fashion Illustration class and a Fashion Processing class. In the illustrations class, I was taught by Karen Dietshe, I gained a deeper understanding of how the body is constructed, operates, and holds clothing. In the fashion processing class, taught by Julian Guthrie, I discovered how tedious the real process of creating a fashion line is, as well as how to use my surrounding as inspiration and guidance.
In Fall of 2013, I began my two year International Baccalaureate Diploma and endured a strenuous Higher Level Visual Arts course
taught by Christine Giesbrecht. Through this course I was tasked with creating 16-18 pieces centered around a chosen theme. I gained time management skills and became extremely efficient and diligent; I explored many new mediums and ventured into subjects matters I had not yet explored before.
After graduating high school in 2015, I began my 4 year undergraduate degree at University of Toronto in Visual Studies for a Bachelor of Arts. The John H Daniels Faculty gave me some of the best training I have ever received. The part that I value the most from the last four years are critiques. Learning to criticized, in my opinion, is one of the most important parts of any artist's practice. Learning not only what it means to prepare a piece in its entirety, but also being able to communicate its purpose, influences, and its progress to viewers.

In my final years, I discovered a painting style that truly represents me as an artist, which was developed based on two art eras that are incredibly influential to me: 1960s Pop Art and 17th century Baroque painting. Specific artists such as Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Yayoi
Kusama, Rembrandt and MC Escher are artists that have inspired many of my works and my overall style.

My art practice continues on after school as I venture into the contemporary art world in Toronto. Currently I work as a graphic designer, however I still continuing painting for art commissions and for personal growth.
